Home for the Holidays

Home sweet home at last.
After a semester of stress and what not I finally got to come home... and STAY home.
Blessed, I am.
I've spent my days bundled up inside as the snow falls reading books, and watching the Hallmark Channel.
Can my break get any better?
Nope.

Yesterday we awoke to my mom calling us all up to the kitchen to see the foot of snow that had fallen, and since she had clients coming that day... we knew why we had gotten this wake up call.
She needed us to help her shovel.

So I threw some boots on and a coat over my cat pj's and we went out and shoveled.
SUCH a blast.
I love my family.

Happy Holidays Blog Lovers!
May your days be Merry and Bright.

so I sing...

... and this Saturday is our FIRST CHRISTMAS CONCERT!

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

'twas the first night of December, when all through the city...

...all the Christmas lights were shining, so magical and pretty!

So, as most of you may have heard on the radio as of late...
It's the most wonderful and magical time of the year.
And in the city, the magic is truly brought to life at temple square.

Christ is the light of our life, and what I love so much about temple square, is the way those lights reflect him. The lights completely encompass the temple and bring LIFE and COLOR to the white winter nights.
Just as Christ does to OUR lives.

The season is beautiful. Lovers walk the streets,
some hand in hand.
SOME... huddled for warmth.
Ahhhh
I love... LOVE.
I can't say that I have ever been IN LOVE before, but one day I will be just that.
And on a cold winter day in December when that long anticipated day arrives.
My Guy...
...AND I
will go to the loveliest place on earth!
....
We'll hold each others mitten-covered hands,
we'll laugh with JOY about everything, of course.
And will quite possibly wipe a few tears at the nativity scene.
But most of all we will be
TRULY
MADLY
and quite
DEEPLY
in LOVE on that beautiful Winter night.
With Eachother
With the Gospel
and
With our Life Together.

Happy December
Bring Light to someones life this holiday season!

Yoo Hoo! is that you in there?!

Yeah... I know I am still not doing so well at documenting my life... But let me tell you something....

I AM HOME FOR THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY'S!!

Am I excited?...... ummmm.... Yes. Yes I am.
Let me tell you a story.. about my last 48 hours.... its funny.
I was on my way with some friends to Washington to spend thanksgiving with their family...
and then... on Saturday I would head to Oregon to take wedding pictures for my dear friends at the temple there.

So there we were... Driving through the Blizzard that the News had been warning about all day... and then we came to good old Snowville.
The next 24 hours consisted of:
-10 degree and below temperatures.
-Stocking up on food, water, tissues, sprite, saltines, etc. from the flying J.
-Calls to every relative of relatives that we knew in the area or around it.
-A night spent at ALMOST a strangers house
(The Aunt and Uncle of Haylee's Sisters Sister-In Law....) .... Yeah Pretty Ridiculous.

At the lovely home of the WONDERFUL Nessen's, we were fed dinner, watched some TV, Played the piano, sang, and then at the end of the day SJ, Haylee, and I all retired to the awesome queen sized air mattress of which we fought over the entire night.

You see... There were three of us... Which made it quite the theatrical experience the entire night. If either of us who slept on the outside moved.. it would BOUNCE the person on the otherside RIGHT off the bed.
Haha can you IMAGINE!?

ANYWAYS... Long story short...
The next morning we were fed breakfast and then after several episodes of car trouble, several prayers, two conference talks on faith and gratitude, and two different goodbyes to the Nessen's... we were driven back to Draper, Utah where we met up with my Uncle at a mexican restaurant and were taken back to Salt lake city..

HOLY COW, I know.
My life is an adventure.

Today is Thanksgiving, and BOY am I grateful.
The Lord kept me safe this week.
He loves me.
You too.
I have a wonderful family.
Wonderful friends.
I go to an amazing school and are surrounded by incredible people.

Overall I have a wonderful LIFE.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

XOXO

Singin' in the rain...

So every so often I get these strokes of genius...
an event will be going on, and all of a sudden a cheesy thought will pop into my head.
These very thoughts are what I like to call...
Words of Wisdom by Sydney Tittle.
good title, eyh?...
I thought so.

The other day, my friends and I realized just how obsessed we were with that old-time movie "singin in the rain.."
We, as the classy ladies decided that we would watch it together.
So we did.
aaaaaannnnnd we liked it.

Now the next day... to our lovely surprise and excitement...
It rained...
and while other students griped and grumbled about the weather and having to walk home, or ride their bike home in the down pour...
we decided that we would make like Gene Kelly
and SING in the RAIN!

Well then... I had a stroke of genius.
So here on this day... you get to witness..
Words of wisdom by Sydney Tittle

"At times the clouds my roll in and cold and heavy down pour may fall on you... What are you going to do? You can't change the weather... so you MIGHT as well just sing in the rain."

Brilliant!

I love my life.
Hows yours?

Love,
ME

My Thoughts on Today

Hello my dear friends.
My thoughts on today....
...well there are many, as usual.
But here for a second I will just allow my brain to be opened up and dumped onto this page...

Man, when I say that, a terrible picture pops into my head of some sort of landfill
that at the end of the day gets crushed,
compacted
and completely mushed into this big mass of complete trash.

...Boy, I hope my words aren't just that for you.
I hope when you read these words,
that instead of a big, stinky -and quite smelly- mass of landfill,
you picture a freshly opened bucket of rainbow-colored paint
A bucket of paint that I have slightly stirred and then SPLATTERED all over a beautiful while canvas for you to observe and enjoy.

I hope that when you read my words... you take time to sit and ponder and get something out of it that has personal importance and meaning.

Now, for my REAL thoughts on today.
Thoughts of which might have no meaning to you whatsoever...
but just humor me.

SOOOO...

I walked into my first class today, sat down and learned how to listen.
Listening has always been a difficult thing for me.
why you ask?
welllll I am VERY easily distracted.
I have what doctors call a LITTLE bit of an ADD problem.
haha... you think I'm joking.

Now after I focused reallly really hard and attempted listening to my teacher tell us how to listen I got my things and went to a wonderful devotional.

Devotionals at my school are every Tuesday, and they are always so wonderful. Well, at least they were until this year. This year I have to sit on the stand....

You know, I shouldn't complain. But an hour of sitting on the stand in front of a whole bunch of students isn't exactly all that it cracked up to be. I went into it thinking... ohhhh yeahhhh... I am coooool, I get to sit on the stand...
ha ha well, let me tell you something....... SOOO not as cool as I thought it'd be.

We get up there, sometimes looking good, and other times- like today- looking like we just rolled out of bed.
LOVELY.
So there we sit, and I'm trying to look all classy... trying to sit like a princess (the way they teach it on princess diaries) and really, I probably just look like I am about to fall out of my chair.

and THEN... oh then.... here come the cameras...
Yep. Right on your face. and you can see yourself in the TV straight ahead of you, and you try dodging behind the other student council members to get your hideous face off the camera.. but no... there you have to sit... for an hour... classily falling out of your chair. being stared down by a recording of yourself. aaannnd 200 other students as well.... Great.

ANNNYWAYS...
Aside of the awkwardness of being on the stand.. devotional was wonderful. The spirit is an amazing thing that can touch your heart if you let it.

Love you all!
